Conditions we treat

Chiropractors are known as "Back Doctors," however, we are musculoskeletal specialists that treat the whole body. Most people are surprised to find out that we treat other issues like extremity pain, sports injuries and even headaches.

  • Back Pain

  • Neck Pain

  • Headaches

There are multiple causes and types of headaches that patients suffer from. Identifying the type of headache you suffer from is the first step in determining what the best treatment option is. For a lot of people with tension headaches, cervicogenic headaches, and migraines, chiropractic care is a go to treatment that provides immediate relief for some.
Lower back pain is the most common reason people go see their doctor. Chiropractic care not only significantly allieviates back pain, but also allows patients to achieve functional improvements, like increased range of motion and mobility. With chiropractic care there is less likelihood of the pain returning by treating the cause of the pain, not just masking the symptoms. Experts and researchers agree that conservative treatments like chiropractic care, stretching and exercise should be the first line defense in treating back pain before medications, injections, or sugery.
Neck pain can be a deblitating condition. It is usually a combination of weakening in the deep muscles of your neck, dysfunctional cervical joint motion/mobility, or poor posture. We work on addressing and correcting all three of these factors.

  • Sciatica

Sciatica is term used to describe irritation or compression on the sciatic nerve that results in lightning-like shooting pain down the back of the leg. There are several things that can irritate the sciatic nerve, ranging from a tight muscle, usually the piriformis, to a disc bulge in the lower back.

  • Disc Bulge/Herniation

Disc bulges can result in tremendous  pain or no symptoms at all. Basically, it depends on the severity and location of the disc bulge that determines the outcome. We use a technique called flexion distraction that creates a gap in the inner space of the disc, this allows the disc to decompress and exchange nutrients with the surrounding blood flow and aid in the healing process. In addition to flexion distraction, we use extension based exercises to help relieve the symptoms, many people have great success with  this combination of treatments.

  • Sports Injuries

Getting back on the field, or able to work out again ASAP is usually  the first thing on an athletes mind after suffering an injury. We focus on identifying what caused the injury, and if there are any underlying mobility or stablity issues that contributed to/caused the injury that can be corrected in order to prevent another injury. This is where rehab comes into play.
Mid back pain can be caused from a lifting injury, prolonged sitting, poor posture,  and many other things. Mid back pain can also lead to poor posture due to trying to avoid postions that provoke the pain. It is important to address mid back pain when it starts.

  • Jaw Pain

Jaw pain can result in significant pain and discomfort when chewing food or moving your jaw. Constant clicking and  popping in your jaw is not normal. It can cause severe headaches or lead to arthritis in your TMJ if not addressed and treated. Tension in the muscles of mastication (chewing muscles) is a common source of pain, however, TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfuntion  is another probable cause. We address both components to make sure they are working properly. The TMJ is a complex joint, that has a fibrocartilaginous disc in it that slides as you open and close your jaw. This disc is usually the culprit of the clicking and popping.

  • Mid Back Pain

  • Auto/Work Injuries

After suffering from an accident, we are happy to work with you to help you recover from your injury. Whiplash is a common injury suffered during a car accident or a fall. Chiropractic care has been shown to be a very effective treatment for whiplash, that can help minimize the long-term effects of the injury.

  • "Trigger Point" /Muscle Pain

A trigger point is a common term used to describe an area of myofascial pain that is the result of a small local area of muscle tissue that is in spasm, cutting off local blood flow to the area and allowing metabolic waste products to build up. Overtime, this area becomes very painful and tender. You've probably had someone run their hand over your back or shoulders that made you jump finding a tender spot that you didn't realize was there. That's a trigger point.

  • Extremity Pain

Most people are very surprised when they find out that chiropractors can help with extremity pain. In fact, working with extremities is where we here at Elite Spine & Joint try to set ourselves apart. Whether you suffer from clavicle, scapula, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, or foot pain/issues, we are determined to figure out what is causing your pain and to get you feeling and moving better.
